Current Status

The OpenChange Project has done a significant amount of research and development on Microsoft Exchange data migration. The OSER Project will use the results of their excellent research to migrate data from Exchange version 5.5 and later to the OSER Platform. I will also be using the following tools to assist in the migration process:

Under Construction

I will tie the above items together, and create the OSER Migration tool. I expect the flow to be as follows:

Step 1

Make a FULL BACKUP of your exchange store. This will allow you to back out of the process at any time. Failure to follow this step can result in severe problems. Do NOT proceed until you have a full backup. If you need more information on backing up your exchange store, please see the following links:

Microsoft Exchange 5.5

Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003

Step 2

Install the oser migration program (coming soon to a cvs server near you).

Step 3

Beta test the migration tool with your email account. You should be able to login with your current password, and send/receive email. Make sure you can do the following:

Step 4

Beta test it with a small group of people in your organization. Make sure they are able to perform the same tasks listed above.

Step 5

Open it to public.
